Andy Warhol Sunrise
One of the best experiences I’ve had in the past few years was when I embarked on a sunrise hike in my neighborhood.
Early mornings have called to me often, throughout the years. Sometimes the call is stronger than others, and there have been times when I couldn’t ignore the call. The day I did this particular sunrise hike was one of those times.
It was early October. The sun was rising before 6am then, so I hopped on my scooter around 5:30am and drove less than three miles to the Las Ramblas Trail head, right around the corner from where I was living at the time.
You don’t have to travel far to travel well.
What follows is a series of images from that sunrise in the hills. It was one of the most breathtaking moments of my life. A few of the images remind me of Andy Warhol’s sunset series, which is not to toot my own horn.
It’s simply a warming thought, pun intended, to think about how we all share this in common: the sun shines on us, and provides us with infinite beauty to behold.
On my way back down the hill, I saw this and thought it was curiously stunning. And a great way to end the hike:
