My word for 2020
This is my New Year’s
revolution: Love myself
wildly, fiercely — well.
Any questions or
doubts concerning who I am
will be unwelcome.
Why do I work this
way, live that way, focus on
joy — smile / dance so hard?
Why won’t I think this
way, act that way, focus on
status quo — grow up?
Why can’t I settle
down, be more practical, plan
for my future life?
Because. Will be my
answer. I don’t owe you an
explanation, but
if I did I would
say — I’m still learning how to
love myself, and if
you can let me love
myself, I will be able
to love you better.
It all comes back to
love. Everything the world has
taught me points in the
same direction — Love.
Tell me, how can I love you
if I can’t love me?
I have looked for the
answers out there, but every
time I do, I end
up back at the same
place — within myself. It’s time
to do the real work.
Won’t you meet me there,
at the place where because is
answer enough? The
place where love comes from
the inside out, shining forth
like bright rays of life?
Look inward with me.
