The bird is my spirit animal.

Each time I study them, birds teach me something new about life, or myself.

I love how they color and awaken the world. I love how they inspire breakthrough and resilience. I love how they sing to me in the morning.

I have been fascinated by birds all my life, but it’s only been in the last seven years that I’ve become serious about birding.

In the last few years, I’ve made an effort to get to know the birds living in my home state. These are the birds of California — the ones I’ve met so far.
